A pair of 20th Century Indian monumental elephants in white marble. Each is carved out of one block of marble. Having a raised trunk and each sculpted with meticulous and intricate details. These massive hand carved garden statues are positioned onto a 3” thick base. Weathered patina throughout.
In the belief of the Hindu religion, the elephant is a powerful and significant symbol. It represents a sacred symbol of mental strength, peace and power. Ganesha, a favorite god is depicted in the form of an elephant. These statues are seen in many temples.
