A Mid-Century Modern, unusual cone-shaped planter designed by Willy Guhl for Eternit. This sculptural cement garden vessel has been fiber-reinforced and remains in vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1960, Switzerland.


Willy Guhl was a furniture maker, interior designer, teacher, and product designer born in 1915 in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland, and passed away in 2004. He completed his cabinet-making apprenticeship at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich and opened his own design studio in 1939. In 1943, he co-founded the Association of Swiss Interior Designers, followed by the Association of Swiss Industrial Designers in 1966. Guhl is best known for his innovative, weather-resistant cement designs produced by the Swiss company Eternit.
