An exquisite and very rare set of four humerous Italian dwarf garden statues. These vintage hand carved limestone statuettes are positioned on the original stone plinths. Beautifully aged patina, wear consistent with age and use. Circa 20th century, Italy

These statuettes influenced by the famous Villa Valmarana ai Nani in Vicenza, Italy. Those grotesque statues were placed on the garden walls in the 18th Century, in order to comfort the daughter of the house as she was of short statue. Similar statues can be still viewed today in the chateau Mirabell in Salzburg, Austria.
