Early 19th century, an antique garden planter from Anduze in hand thrown terra cotta decorated with garlands and medallions. The raised garden urn is in good condition with an antique and weathered flamed patina from Provence, France. Wear consistent with age and use.

The iconic Anduze urn traces its origins to the early 17th century, during the reign of King Henry IV. Inspired by the classical elegance of the Medici urn  from Florence, a French potter in the town of Anduze blended Italian Renaissance design with Provençal craftsmanship, creating the first hand-thrown terracotta urn in Southern France. Over time, the Anduze pot became a hallmark of French garden style, admired for its graceful silhouette, durability, and decorative charm.
