An early 20th Century hand carved and painted Decoy Duck. These ducks were elaborately hand painted to resemble waterfowl. The wooden ducks were often carved to attract the real ducks.
Duck decoys were historically carved in wood, often from cedar wood or cork. They are usually painted elaborately and very accurately to resemble various kinds of waterfowl.
