A Mid-Century Modern sculptural large Handkerchief or Elephant Ear planter by Willy Guhl. Produced in a light weight reinforced cement. Willy Guhl was one of the first ” industrial “ designers in Switzerland and became well known for his elegant style of organic shaped outdoor planters. Excellent patina of plant residue and moss. Drainage hole is provided, wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1960s Switzerland.

Willy Guhl was a furniture maker, interior designer, teacher, and product designer born in 1915, in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland, and passed away in 2004. Guhl finished his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. He opened his design studio and workshop in 1939. In 1943, he co-founded the Association of Swiss Interior Designers and in 1966, the Association of Swiss Industrial Designers. Guhl's work is known for his weather-resistant innovative designs in cement.
