A massive sculptural biomorphic garden planter by Willy Guhl in a lightweight cement.  This sculptural vintage garden ornament has been fiber-reinforced. Willy Guhl was one of the first “ industrial “ designer in Switzerland and became well known for his elegant style of organic shaped outdoor planters. Aged patina, wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1960s Switzerland.

Willy Guhl was a furniture maker, interior designer, teacher, and product designer born in 1915, in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland, and passed away in 2004. Guhl finished his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. He opened his own design studio and workshop in 1939. In 1943, he co-founded the Association of Swiss Interior Designers and in 1966, the Association of Swiss Industrial Designers. Guhl's work is known for his innovative weather-resistant designs in cement.
