A Mid-Century Modern Hankerchief or Elephant Ear planter by Willy Guhl in a light weight cement reinforced with fiber. Willy Guhl was one of the first ” industrial “ designers in Switzerland and became well known for his elegant sculptural style of organic shaped outdoor planters. Aged patina with plant residue and moss. Draingae hole is provided, wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1960 Switzerland.

Willy Guhl was a furniture maker, interior designer, teacher, and product designer born in 1915, in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland, and passed away in 2004. Guhl finished his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. He opened his design studio and workshop in 1939. In 1943, he co-founded the Association of Swiss Interior Designers and in 1966, the Association of Swiss Industrial Designers. Guhl's work is known for his weather-resistant innovative designs in cement.
