19th Century Italian Arte Povera Pinewood Chest - Single Antique Tuscan Cupboard

A late 19th Century, antique Italian Arte Povera commode made of hand crafted painted Pinewood, in good condition. The single cupboard is composed with three large drawers, detailed with round door knobs. The detailed Tuscan cabinet is consisting its original metal hardware and keys, particularized by floral décor, standing on four tapered fluted wooden legs. Minor fading, scratches due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1870 - 1890, Tuscany, Italy.
This type of furniture was handmade by cabinet makers starting in the 1500's through the 1700's. The furniture was in fashion but was fairly expensive, due to the choice of wood (Walnut or Cherrywood). Therefore, the artisans were asked to fabricate the furniture in a less expensive way using wood types such as Pioppo or Fir.
