Pair of Cone Shaped Garden Planters by Willy Guhl

A pair of conical shaped garden planters by Willy Guhl. The sculptural garden planters are made of a light weight cement which is reinforced by a fiber. Each of these mid-century modern bowls have an aged patina with plant residue and were fabricated in the 1960s in Switzerland. Drainage hole is provided, wear consistent with age and use.
Willy Guhl was a furniture maker, interior designer, teacher and a product designer born in 1915, in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland and passed away in 2004. Guhl finished his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker at the School of Applied Arts in Zurich, Switzerland. He opened his own design studio and workshop in 1939. In 1943, he co-founded the Association of Swiss Interior Designers and in 1966, the Association of Swiss Industrial Designers. Guhl's work is known for his weather-resistant innovative cement designs.
