A Pair of Antiqued Anduze Garden Pots in Terra Cotta from Provence
pf-1258
This pair of very traditional partially flamed Anduze garden planters with a worn patina applied by hand. These garden urns from the south of France have an antique finish with warm earth tones and green. These handmade terra cotta clay urns from France are adorned with swags and medaillons. The French garden planters are available in different sizes and include drainage holes.
We recommend using liners or landscaping cloth prior to planting. Please note these planters are not frostproof.
The iconic Anduze urn traces its origins to the early 17th century, during the reign of King Henry IV. Inspired by the classical elegance of the Medici urn from Florence, a French potter in the town of Anduze blended Italian Renaissance design with Provençal craftsmanship, creating the first hand-thrown terracotta urn in Southern France. Over time, the Anduze pot became a hallmark of French garden style, admired for its graceful silhouette, durability, and decorative charm.
